One Season in Colorado

It was just supposed to be one season, and then back to the real world... Three years later, I'm still in Colorado.

Tagged

I know I haven't posted in...oh, a month, but it's been really crazy around here. Plus, I'm leaving for home tomorrow and I feel like a little kid on the last day of school before holidays. I really don't feel like working!

So, I got tagged on this one from Ben, and it seems like a very non-working type thing to do.

Ten random things you might not know about me:
1. I love tomatoes, I hate ketchup.
2. I can wiggle my ears (no hands necessary).
3. I have a tendency to read books to quickly, and then pick them up later, forgetting that I've already read them.
4. I used to hate the color pink. I'll wear it occasionally now.
5. I work in a t-shirt shop. Not for the extra money, but because I like the people.
6. I can't see the pictures in those "Magic Eye" posters.
7. I have dog envy, but know that I'm not home enough to take care of one.
8. I really hate taking out the trash.
9. I am now on a first name basis with the librarian at the Summit County Library. We're tight.
10. I think that passive aggressiveness is worse than shouting.

Nine places I've visited:
1. Kansas City, KS (for work. Not as corn-fieldy as I thought it would be)
2. New York, NY (could live there. Easily)
3. Rome
4. Skye, Scotland
5. Guildford, England
6. Laguna Beach, CA (for work, not for the show)
7. Key West (almost melted, but loved it)
8. Grand Canyon
9. Las Vegas

Eight ways to win my heart:
1. Tell a really good joke
2. Help me finish the crossword (or race me on it)
3. Recognize my random movie quotes, or sprinkle them in your conversation.
4. Be concerned when I don't eat breakfast.
5. Know how many points are in a Krispy Kreme donut.
6. Listen to me.
7. Love my family
8. Give me my space.

Seven things I want to do before I die:
1. Cut a cd. Preferably country music
2. Visit Greece. Ride a moped.
3. Publish a book
4. Write a will (don't laugh. I'm going to do this now)
5. Summit Kilamanjaro
6. Get married
7. Learn to knit

Six things I'm afraid of:
1. Going blind.
2. Rats.
3. Getting alzheimer's
4. Being 60 and alone with lots of cats.
5. Cancer.
6. Howard Stern. He's scary looking.

Five things I don't like:
1. Idiot drivers
2. Cigarette smoke on my clothes (thank goodness for smoke free counties)
3. Feeling guilty.
4. Waiting for the phone to ring
5. Shrimp.

Four ways to turn me off:
1. Discount my thoughts or opinions
2. Don't bathe.
3. Insult my family, friends, or accent
4. Brag about your car, your money, or your on-the-hill skills.

Three things I do every day:
1. Think about getting a haircut
2. Scrape the snow/ice off of my car
3. Check my email (it's a sickness).

Two things that make me happy:
1. My family and friends
2. Listening to Prince very loudly in the car

One thing on my mind right now:
I'm going home tomorrow!

Just for giggles

I found this on a site of lists that you can take a look at here. Among such jems as "Comments From the Crowd Gathering Around the Body ofPhidippides, Reporter of the Greek Victory Over the Persians at Marathon, Soon After He Gasped, "We Won,"and Died. " and "Rejected Bond Girls", I also found the below lists. They made me laugh.

And that is not appropriate at work.

I can't believe it...I never thought it would go this far!

I want to thank the academy, for their vision and foresight to allow me the creative freedom to pursue this roll.

I want to thank my IIF, as well as my know-in-real-life friends for supporting me, leaving nice comments, and chastising me when I haven't posted in a while. If it wasn't for them, sniff, I wouldn't have been able to make it to 100 posts.

And last by not least, I'd like to thank my semi-ADDness and my lack of motivation for helping me to skive off of work and post. It's time like these, when I'm growing my office butt, that really contribute to my blogging.

Thank you very much.

32 inches/72 hrs

No, this is the not start of some porno post, you dirty minded people!

That's how much snow we've gotten since Saturday, and I finally saw the sun this morning. It's 15 degrees outside, and while the rest of my office is off enjoying the powder day (we do work at a ski resort, after all) I'm sitting in the office. This sucks.

Seriously, though, it got so bad last night that I couldn't see out of my office window, I feared for my life driving home (needless to say, I did not attend tap-dancing class) and they had to close I-70 for a while. A long time. My friends that just arrived from the UK ended up staying in Denver last night because they couldn't make it out here. Miss Issues, I know it's not as bad as staying in a high school gym for three days, but you can at least empathize :-).

So, a big thank you to everyone who did a snow dance. Keep up the good work!

I'm going go back to sighing at my desk. And from now on, dagnabit, I'm keeping my board in my car.

Watch what you wish for...

You know how I was a little worried about opening day, and how gorgeous it has been, and how it hasn't really snowed lately?

I need to shut my mouth.

It started snowing early Saturday morning (see concert notes from Fri. night) and hasn't stopped yet.

While I'm thrilled that we're getting snow (I do work at a ski resort, after all), I'm not as excited about the fact that

a) the roads are quite slippery and scary
b) no matter what kind of shoes I wear, snow leaks down into my socks and makes my feet wet
c) my hair goes curly when it gets snow on it. not good.

However, we're opening more terrain, and I might be able to get out on my board one day this week.

Keep doing those snow dances, people! Thanks, Ramblin' Girl for your help! :-)
